Pond Hockey

Pond Hockey : Starring Wayne Gretzky

As the lyrics would go from "High School Musical "This could be the start of something new, it feels alright to be here with you" and last night it felt alright for the Bobcat Nation that were either in attendance or watching it on TV as it was the "Start of Something New", when Charlotte Bobcats Arena was officially re-dedicated last night as Time Warner Cable Arena and not only that, the Bobcats made the switch to FSN South and SportSouth, completing the anticipated naming rights for Television rights package.

It was exactly what the Bobcat Nation wanted to see because many of them lived through the depacle that was C-SET when the team was founded and was only on Time Warner Cable's digital tier and once it was folded, they moved the games to News 14 Carolina from 2005 up to last Saturday night and many Bobcat fans throughout North and South Carolina didn't get a chance to see them on satelite or cable systems, instead they had to watch them over-the-air on their Bobcats TV affiliates.

Now fast forward to yesterday. the much anticipated switch was set and they made it official that Charlotte Bobcats Arena would become Time Warner Cable Arena and not only that, owner Bob Johnson made sure that fans outside the Charlotte area would get to see them on a better television home, and they entered into a great partnership with FSN South and it's sister network SportSouth, which is carrying the final 4 games of the season and starting in 2008, they will be the new cable home of Bobcats Basketball with 70 games on both networks and extensive pre and post-game coverage on "Bobcats Live".

So, we finally have a winning combination, an Arena that now has a name and a new television home for the Bobcats and we are starting out on the long journey to make the Charlotte Bobcats  "Carolina's Team".
